Isabel Marant – San Francisco Precast Pedestals

Isabel Marant is a French house of fashion. Los Angeles Cast Stone was selected to provide precast/cast stone pedestals and dressing room concrete benches for their San Francisco location.

The project was unique and challenging, in a sense that the pedestals had square and circular openings in the middle. Our mold makers had to engineer special molds that will enable us to achieve the design. Another challenge we faced was the 2mm lines that few of the pedestals had. Other precast companies achieved that by saw cuts; however, saw cuts chipped the concrete and look artificial, not part of the precast finish. TAS (Los Angeles Cast Stone) found a solution. We made special molds that gave the 2mm lines after the precast pedestal was demolded.

The most challenging part of the manufacturing is fabricating a 14 feet high large totem. We managed to do it in one casting and didn’t have any defects.
